Reed Green Kitchen with a View of the Poppy Line

Set within the penthouse of an apartment block in Sheringham, this kitchen renovation was as much about reconfiguring space as it was about aesthetics. The apartment enjoys a unique view of the iconic Poppy Line steam railway, which passes daily during the summer months.

Our clients volunteer with the Sheringham train, so creating a sink positioned beneath the window, overlooking the line, became a key design priority.

Reconfiguring the Space

The original kitchen configuration restricted both flow and sightlines. To achieve the desired layout, we made the considered decision to block a low-level floor window, enabling the sink to be relocated beneath the main window. This single adjustment transformed the experience of the room, aligning the working area with the view and creating a far more intuitive layout.

The cabinetry was finished in Reed Green, introducing depth and character while remaining soft enough to sit comfortably within the light-filled penthouse setting. J-handle cabinetry and a venting hob were chosen to maintain clean lines and an uncluttered appearance. Eye-level Neff Slide&Hide ovens were integrated seamlessly, supporting both practicality and the contemporary feel the clients were seeking.

Materials & Installation

This was a fully managed renovation carried out from start to finish. We stripped out the existing kitchen and oversaw new flooring, electrics, plumbing, decorating and complete installation.

The 30mm sparkly quartz worktops bring subtle luminosity to the scheme. Although navigating them up to the top floor proved a logistical challenge, the end result was entirely worthwhile. A discreet plinth heater was incorporated to ensure the space remains warm and comfortable throughout the year.
