A bespoke library, media & cocktail wall shelving unit in a holiday home
Our clients approached us with a bold idea: to transform a large blank wall in their Docking holiday home into a cohesive space for books, media, and entertaining — all without compromising on character or practicality.
The Design
We designed and installed a bespoke 8-metre-wide and 3.2-metre-tall joinery piece, combining open shelving, concealed drawers, a home bar, and media storage. Every detail was considered to ensure the finished piece felt fully integrated and timeless.
The cabinetry and surrounding tongue-and-groove panelling were painted in Deep Lichen, giving the room a calm, rooted atmosphere. Solid oak shelving adds natural warmth and contrast, while a removable library ladder was fitted for easy access to the upper levels, a practical choice given the home is used as a holiday let.
The Details
A fully integrated cocktail bar, complete with antique mirror splashback, LED lighting, and custom shelving, is our personal highlight.
The media unit was designed to blend seamlessly with the shelving, avoiding visual clutter.
We carefully sourced paintable electric sockets to ensure no distractions from the overall aesthetic.
The table in the room was re-oiled and refreshed by us as a finishing touch.
To top it off, the painting above the bar is an original oil on canvas by Anthony.
This was one of the most complex and challenging projects we've taken on — but also one of the most rewarding. From precise panelling to finishing details, our team worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. The result is a space that feels rich, inviting, and thoughtfully designed — a true reflection of the clients and the home itself.
